Lakshya

And I dont know it. . .

Today I read about three things. They are ranked in the descending order wrt excitement they created.

What am I going to do? What is my problem? Is it time "to take a call" before getting lost finally? Small technical writings excite me so much I change textbooks 5 times a day.

Vector Quantization

It started from a walk in Cubbon Park one month back. Dinesh Akash and I was talking bout expert system, artificial intelligence and unsupervised learning. Then self organizing map(SOM) came up. Two days back I got a good site which demonstrates SOM very nicely. Yesterday Ganesh was clearing our doubts when clustering came up and then Vector Quantization came up. Last night at 2 I got the program running.Today morning at 12 I got results.

Amader bari

Ager bar Subhasish der barite giye bhalo laglo. Clean and new and everything is kinda perfect you know. Big hall, proper bedrooms etc. But then I thought about our house. Say if you are asked after 5 years (when probably you will no longer be living in the same house) to describe your house you CAN really do it. An odd long kitchen. A useless staircase. One closed(Forbidden?) room. Two dilapidated tables. But probably Subhasish will not remember anything because its so perfect. Our house has features. Our house is more close to a home. Imperfect. Thats what homes should be.

Disturbing the universe

Thats the book I am reading now by Freeman Dyson. I have only one word for it. AMAZING. There are lot of things including description of work of people like Feynman and Openheimer and Swinger and Edward Teller. Los Alamos in World War II is like the US Dream Team in Basketball. He also talks about his passion in music which was quite numeric (Did I get it right?). He talks about disarmament in the time of cold-war.Supports a defensive antiballistic missile system more than the development of a nuclear weapon. Talks about Martin Luthar King and a labour leader and shows the similarities. Space colonization. Design of a ultra-safe nuclear reactor in a schoolhouse. Trial of Openheimer. Friedship of Edward Teller.
