Went to IISc today. Amazing place. Everytime I go there I get a new life. I am trying to make a report on Microfabricated Gas Sensors. I could locate the books. But before I could start reading I got tired. The references are :
- Solid State Gas Sensors Moseley and Tofield
- Solid State Chemical Sensors Janata
- Handbook of modern sensors Jacob Fraden
- Microsensors : Principles and Applications Gardner
- Sensor Technology and Devices Ljubisa Ristic
Couldnt locate the Sze books. I somehow dont understand semiconductors in its full. Once it crosses p-n junction I get lost. I think I should buy the book by Sze. If I read it carefully probably I will crack FET and MOSFET and etc. Specially the band theory, work function, Firmi-Dirac distribution. I badly need some homework to do. Also forgot to check for Massey for fluid mech. One of these days I am going to go to Avenue Road and get these two books.
I downloaded Papanda's white paper but still couldnt get time to read it.
Then I went to journal section. I somehow got convinced that one should narrow down his research topics. The way I have done it to MEMS and then try to excel in it. So I stopped reading Chaos and Control. I mean stopped goofing around in every lane.
But somehow today I felt this could be dangerous. As a spectator of Science and Technology Show we should probably try to cover as much as possible. So I read Nature(2nd June). There is an article on Simulation of Galaxy. But I forgot or dont know basic things, I realized. So here are the basic questions I gathered :
- What is X-ray crystallography?
- What is Nuclear Magnetic Resonance?
- What is Protein?
- What is gamma ray?
I will try to answer them here. Btw this is a new blog which I plan to update weekly(Saturday or Monday). I also plan to go to IISc every Saturday. Lets see what happens to this new venture.
